Sarah Who?

In literature, a red herring is a narrative element intended to distract the reader from a more important event in the plot, usually a twist ending. - Wikipedia

She's getting all the attention and ignoring the issues. Literally! But why? Surely, even Republicans must value a Vice President with at least a minimal understanding of the job description? So why are they continuing to support her? I've figured it out and I will share the answer with you - because it does not matter. Neither to her, nor to the country.

If the McCain ticket wins (and that's a big, huge IF) Sarah Palin won't even move into her office. She has a built-in exit strategy - her family needs her. No one can or will argue with that. So who will McCain choose to replace her? We don't know because they don't want us to know. What I do know is that it's going to be someone scarier than Cheney. And I would be scared, except I'm confident they won't win.

So why am I so confident? Because voting Americans are not stupid. We watch the news as well as sports. We read newspapers with titles. We know we're not winning the wars. We have opinions about Supreme Court decisions.

And, oh, by the way, we're pissed off about the Bailout fiasco, too. We're going to unleash our anger at the voting polls on November 4th. Rich fat-cat politicians better watch out. That is why both parties supported the bailout plan - the biggest losers in this whole mess are the older people who live off their investments. They will see immediate drops in income and standard of living. They will be angry, rightfully so. They vote. A lot of them vote. And they will vote for change, again, rightfully so.

The silver lining of this "financial crisis" (not really a crisis, but that's another rant entirely) is that it's letting the People define the important issues. We, the People, are demanding an explanation. We, the People, are demanding a plan to fix it. And we, the People, are demanding specifics. WOW!

And guess what? The Obama/Biden camp is giving us answers while the McCain/Palin camp winks and gives shout-outs to third-graders and Joe Six-Pack. (They can blow kisses all they want, but we all know they're just blowing smoke.)

The only way Obama will lose this election is if the Republican machine steals it - again!

So here's what I'm going to do - I will start paying attention to what's going to happen at the polls on November 4th. I want to see a fair fight. I will do what I can to make sure all registered voters are allowed to vote and that every vote gets counted accurately. I want American voters to select a President in a fair election.

I believe it will be Obama. I hope and pray it will be Obama. I am confident that it will be Obama. But, if I'm wrong, I want to know that the other guy won fair and square.
